Who’s getting excited about (fingers crossed) the reopening of the shops, gyms and resturants on April the 12th?
I must admit I was over the moon and then time seem to stand still ………typical.
So it’s 5 weeks away and we’re using this time to expand. If you’ve not seen our expansion project have a look here – https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/bringing-the-community-and-crafters-together
The plan is to get this project completed for reopening.
Step one is complete, carpets removed.
Its an amazing space that we’re transforming, so my excitement for opening is back.
What are looking forward to the most ?

Our Dream to Become Reality
Simply Needlecraft started trading in March 2013. Our bricks and mortar shop is based on the High Street in Swadlincote in Derbyshire.
We stock fabrics, yarns, knitting and crochet accessories, ribbons, trimmings and haberdashery.
Before lockdown in 2020 the downstairs was just a shop with a sewing studio upstairs for adults and kids to learn the basics of sewing and moving onto advanced techniques for quilting and wider range of craft classes.
Over the years kids and adults have continuously kept coming back to us as its inspired them and really helped with their well being and confidence. Its not just a one off its helped them focus and go onto bigger and better things and find their feet in the world of crafting world. Along with the new skills of crafting they have built up solid relationships and friends and love the environment in which they learn, its been an ever evolving community and its only getting stronger with children and adults taking up crafting.
This Is Where We Need Your Help
In 2020 many people have suffered with social isolation and used crafting to help with isolation, anxiety depression. On social media weve built up an online community and want to take that community from isolation into our building at Simply needlecraft.
Now in 2021 as lockdown measures across the country and restrictions are are lifted, the people that we have helped during isolation, we want to create an environment where people can come to not just to shop but to to use the building upstairs and downstairs as a facility for people to freely come and craft allowing them to meet new friends and share ideas and experiences in a refreshing and laid back environment.
We will use the money to transform the upstairs into a spacious area for crafters and sewers, expanding our range of fabric. Downstairs the money will be used just like upstairs for seating areas for people to come freely to get together with tea and coffee and drink facilities. Downstairs we will use the money for wool and an extend the range of knitting and crochet patterns. To achieve this we will use the money for shop fittings, paint, new seats, tables, carpets, drinks facility, lighting, cubes, cameras, shelving units and new stock.

Hey
What a year it’s been, I’ve learnt so much. Things don’t always turn out how you’ve planned or the way you would like it to be.
However it’s been a productive year and even though it didn’t go to plan I’m overwhelmed by everyone’s support.
Rewind to January and the haberdashery doors opened
In February I went back to London to teach for the Knitting & Stitching show in Islington……. little did I know this would be my last event of the year …
The Children were allowed to come to classes……
March, we went into lockdown …….
Our new website was launched https://www.simplyneedlecraft.com/
Filming started for my new YouTube channel https://youtube.com/c/AmiSimplyNeedlecraft
Our VIP members group was set up https://www.simplysewingboxes.com/
Virtual Stitch School was launched …..https://www.simplysewingboxes.com/the-stitch-school/
At the end of it all we won two awards ………
One from Master Coach of the year Paul mort, the second from Prestige Awards
Thank you to everyone that has supported us, recommended us and followed us. You have no idea what it means to me.
